About us...
Short Proofing offers proofing and copyediting services for all kinds of English prose, from theses and dissertations to essays and reports.
y name is Andrew Short and I am the founder of Short Proofing. I studied English and Education at Durham University, going on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 2019.
I have experience teaching English language in both the UK and overseas. Conducting primary research for my MA dissertation, I travelled to Cabo Verde to support the Beach School Project, a charitable organisation providing English language teaching and learning on the island of Sal. Additionally, I have tutored Chinese students living in Beijing preparing to sit the IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System).
The origins of Short Proofing trace back to this time, for, upon my return from Cabo Verde, I made my first, tentative steps into the world of proofreading and copyediting. After supporting one of my visiting student friends with their written English, I began to receive unsolicited enquiries from others wanting my help. Unwittingly, I had set the ball rolling.

Though Short Proofing began as an individual venture, I have not been without support since then. Short Proofing now has a number of experienced proofreaders, and we are always looking to expand the team. The team have been instrumental in providing clarity to the proofreading/copyediting approach which Short Proofing adopts.
We have proofread and copyedited a vast array of documents in our time, ranging from academic papers to written work for commercial purpose. However, we are not limited to specific disciplines, focusing on the clarity of your writing, as opposed to the content of your files.
